# Data model

> What is inside packaging references, pack styles and the taxonomy.

Packinspo MCP answers in Markdown with stable sections. The fields below are what to expect; new fields may be added over time.

## Packaging references

A reference is one real, shipped pack, selected as the standout pack of its brand.

- **slug**: identifier used by `get_pack` and in the page URL `/p/<slug>`
- **brand** and **product title**
- **summary**: one paragraph on what the pack is and why it was selected
- **category**, **format** and **material**: material is stated only when a source confirms it; otherwise it is marked unverified
- **style tags**: such as Minimal, Typographic, Illustrated, Colourful
- **study**: product context, pack construction and use, design analysis, takeaways for your next brief
- **sources**: brand, product, designer or editorial pages used by the study
- **photos**: up to six image URLs and the photography credit

## Pack styles

A pack style describes a brand's packaging system.

- **slug**: the brand slug, used by `get_style` and in `/styles/<slug>`
- **mood**: one line on the visual direction
- **palette**: named colours with HEX values and roles (pack body, label, ink, accent, range coding)
- **typography**: roles with lookalike typefaces and suggested Google Fonts alternatives
- **structure**: formats, materials, closures, finishes, decoration
- **label**: front-panel layout and zones; back panel when studied
- **range**: how variants are told apart
- **do and don't**: rules for using the style
- **exports**: PACK.md (extended and compact), DTCG design tokens, CSS variables, Tailwind v4 theme

## Taxonomy

- **Industries**: Beauty, Food & Beverages; industries with fewer than eight references stay hidden until they grow
- **Categories**: skincare, make-up, hair, body & bath, suncare, perfume, home scent, pantry, snacks, sweets, soft drinks, beer & aperitifs, wine & spirits
- **Formats**: bottles, pump and dropper bottles, jars, tubes, sticks and compacts, cans, cartons
- **Materials**: glass, plastic and aluminium, when confirmed

## Accuracy notes

- Typefaces are lookalikes unless a source confirms them.
- Colours are sampled from photographs: screen values, not print specifications.
- Studies separate sourced facts from visual observations and say what could not be verified.
