What makes the design work

Yerba Madre brand study

Visual observations across the brand’s packaging. Individual formats and editions may vary.

Leaf-heart wreath

Ring of green mate leaves in a heart shape around a small map, about 12% of can height, flanked by 'Est.' and the year.

Stacked wordmark

Two lines of flared wedge-serif capitals in maroon with a warm shadow, about 75% of the can width, in the middle of the can.

Flavour pill

Rounded bar in the flavour colour with the name reversed in white bold sans, under the category line.

Reading the label

Full-wrap printed can with a centred vertical stack on the golden field and pattern growing up from the base and down from the shoulder.

Rim and shoulder
Flavour-colour band and a fringe of pattern or bubbles
Upper
Leaf-heart wreath with map, 'Est.' and '1996'
Middle
Stacked wordmark, category line, flavour pill, caffeine claim
Lower
Rising textile pattern in the flavour colour, sugar panel on low-sugar cans
Base
Organic seal and 'non-carbonated' or volume

Typography & hierarchy

The two-line wordmark is the dominant element in the middle of the can, under the leaf wreath. Under it come the green category line, the flavour name reversed in a pill, a 'naturally caffeinated' claim, and at the base the organic seal and 'non-carbonated' note or sugar panel. Volume runs vertically at the right edge.

How the range holds together

The golden body, wreath and wordmark never move; each flavour owns one colour used for the pill bar, rim band and base pattern, the sugar tier is signalled by whitening the lower body, and sparkling swaps pattern for bubbles.

Shelf presence

In the cooler every can is the same golden yellow with the same maroon wordmark, so the brand forms one solid yellow block, and flavours are picked out by the coloured rim and pattern at top and bottom.
