What makes the design work

Rhode brand study

Visual observations across the brand’s packaging. Individual formats and editions may vary.

Vertical wordmark

Bold lowercase wordmark rotated 90 degrees, reading bottom to top, about 40% of pack height on the centre axis.

Hairline seam

Thin vertical rule in the same ink continuing above and below the wordmark on stick shells, like a seam.

Pebble shell

Short rounded glossy cylinder with radius about 30% of width, in cocoa (#4f2a12) or caramel (#b98461).

Reading the label

No separate label: all type is printed straight onto the body in one tonal colour, centred on a vertical axis.

Typography & hierarchy

The lowercase wordmark is the only large element, always rotated 90 degrees and running vertically up the centre of the pack, reading bottom to top. Product name and description sit beside or below it in very small type, often bilingual, never competing with the mark; the volume sits at the base in the same ink.

How the range holds together

Body colour separates product families (white and champagne for skincare, cocoa and caramel for colour sticks); individual shades are shown only by the visible product dome, with no name printed large on the front.

Shelf presence

On shelf and online the products read as a tray of smooth glossy pebbles in white, champagne and chocolate, identical in silhouette, so the brand is recognised by shape and tone before the tiny wordmark is read.
