P
Rhode packaging

Rhode

chocolate gloss and quiet lowercase restraint

rhode packs every product in a small, rounded, soft-cornered object with almost nothing printed on it: a single bold lowercase wordmark set vertically up the centre, a hairline rule and a few lines of tiny product text, all in one tonal ink. The body colour carries the identity, from milky white (#f0ede7) and pearlescent champagne on skincare to deep glossy cocoa (#4f2a12) and caramel tan on the pocket colour sticks and lip tint, so the range reads as a family of smooth pebbles rather than labelled products. On the stick compacts a thin vertical rule runs above and below the wordmark like a seam. Shade differences live in the product itself, visible as a coloured dome above a stepped collar, while the shell, wordmark and layout stay identical.

Typography

Suggested visual alternatives, not confirmed brand typefaces. Any scale below is an illustrative estimate.

The lowercase wordmark is the only large element, always rotated 90 degrees and running vertically up the centre of the pack, reading bottom to top. Product name and description sit beside or below it in very small type, often bilingual, never competing with the mark; the volume sits at the base in the same ink.

Range System

Body colour separates product families (white and champagne for skincare, cocoa and caramel for colour sticks); individual shades are shown only by the visible product dome, with no name printed large on the front.

  • Glazing mist = milky white pill bottle
  • Highlight milk = champagne pearlescent bottle
  • Bronze sticks = cocoa shell, shade seen in the dome
  • Pearl sticks = caramel tan shell
  • Lip tint = cocoa tube

Back of Pack & Shelf

Backs and bases carry the rest in the same tonal ink at micro size: shade name, bilingual product name, ingredients, volume, batch and recycling marks, laid out centred along the same vertical axis or on the base.

  • Shade name printed small on the base
  • Bilingual product name and one-line use
  • Full INCI ingredient list in micro type
  • Volume in ml and fl oz
  • Batch code and period-after-opening symbol
  • Recycling marks and distributor line

On shelf

On shelf and online the products read as a tray of smooth glossy pebbles in white, champagne and chocolate, identical in silhouette, so the brand is recognised by shape and tone before the tiny wordmark is read.

Imagery

None on pack; the product colour itself, seen through the opening of the stick, is the only image.

Guidelines

Do

  • Shape every pack as a smooth rounded object with corner radius about 30% of its width.
  • Set the wordmark in bold lowercase, rotated to read bottom to top, about 40% of pack height on the centre axis.
  • Print everything in one low-contrast tonal ink, such as peach (#d9b49a) on cocoa.
  • Add a hairline vertical rule above and below the wordmark on stick formats.
  • Separate families by body colour: white and champagne for skincare, cocoa and caramel for colour.
  • Show shades only through the product dome, never with a printed swatch.

Don't

  • Don't print the wordmark horizontally or in capitals.
  • Don't use high-contrast ink such as pure white on brown or black on white.
  • Don't add a label, frame, pattern or imagery.
  • Don't print shade names on the front.
  • Don't use sharp corners or faceted shapes.
